Janus: A Novel MAC Protocol for Full Duplex Radio
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper presents Janus, a novel MAC protocol for full–duplex wireless networks. Unlike other full-duplex MACs, Janus allows partially interfering nodes to cooperate by finding the appropriate transmission rates based on interference levels, making better use of the channel. Computing the optimal schedule and transmission rates is NPComplete, so Janus uses a cheaper heuristic approach. Janus also ensures that channel access time is shared fairly between all nodes. Janus has lower per-packet overhead compared to CSMA/CA because it eliminates random back-off and lets nodes transmit multiple packets with a single set of control packets. We show that for a setup with one access point and three nodes, Janus achieves 2.5X the throughput of half–duplex system based on CSMA/CA.

A Full-Duplex, Dual-Polarization 10Gbps Radio over Fiber system with wavelength reuse for upstream signal
This study presents a full-duplex Radio-over-Fiber (RoF) system providing the users' wireless access with a bit rate of 10 Gbps over 40 GHz radio carrier. This system can be used in a centralized radio access network (C-RAN) architecture because we provide a fully analog front haul link between central station and base station. We can consider it as infrastructure between remote radio heads (RR...
متن کاملFull duplex random access for multi-user OFDMA communication systems
Random medium access control (MAC) plays a critical role in OFDMA wireless networks to support services with bursty traffic. However, the existing OFDMA random access protocols suffer from low efficiency due to the constraints in half-duplex communications. In this paper, the capability of full-duplex communications is leveraged to propose novel mechanisms such as full duplex carrier sensing, c...
متن کاملInterference Aware Full-Duplex MAC Protocols Design and Evaluation for the Next WLANs
Recently the in-band full-duplex in wireless communication has evolved into a mature technology since the self-interference cancellation technique is able to support fullduplex capability. Moreover, some researchers focus on the full-duplex media access control (MAC) protocol design for wireless local area networks (WLANs). However, it is assumed that all the node have full-duplex capability in...
متن کاملAn Energy Efficient Multichannel MAC Protocol for Cognitive Radio Ad Hoc Networks
This paper presents a TDMA based energy efficient cognitive radio multichannel medium access control (MAC) protocol called ECR-MAC for wireless Ad Hoc Networks. ECRMAC requires only a single half-duplex radio transceiver on each node that integrates the spectrum sensing at physical (PHY) layer and the packet scheduling at MAC layer. In addition to explicit frequency negotiation which is adopted...
متن کاملMASCARA, a MAC Protocol for Wireless ATM
The Medium Access Control (MAC) protocol of a Wireless ATM (WATM) system is a critical component as it lies between the traditional ATM layer and the RF-based physical layer whose characteristics are far from those of fibberor copper-based conventional ATM media. The constraints imposed on the MAC protocol of a WATM system lead to consider the design of a Half Duplex (HDX), point-to-multipoint,...
